MFA - Changing Phone Number

Summary

This article provides instructions on updating your multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods if you are changing your phone number.

If you plan on changing your phone number, install and register the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone before the change. This will ensure you have continued access to your MFA security settings. The Authenticator app can also be used if you have no data or internet connection.

Prerequisites:

  • Your SD68 username and password.
  • A computer with a web browser.
  • Your phone.

Instructions

To change your phone authentication number:

  1. Open a browser and sign-in to your SD68 MFA security info page at https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo. You may need to complete MFA using your old phone, if the number is still active, or through Microsoft Authenticator.
  2. Click the Change button next to the phone method.
  3. Enter the new phone number and select Call me, or Receive a code, then select Next.
  4. Confirm registration by entering the 6 digit code sent by text, or by answering your phone and pressing the # key.
  5. You will receive a notification that the phone was registered successfully. Click Done.
