Software Updates

Software updates are pushed out on a regular basis by our servers through Software Center. Sometimes they require a computer restart. All staff can install these software updates on their computers.

Updates Needed

  • If you see a Software Center icon on your task bar (blue icon that includes a software box, cd, and red asterisk), this means that you have updates waiting to be installed.
  • You may also see a notification that says, “Software changes are required” when you start your computer
  • To install these updates, you can either:
    • Click on the Software Center icon, or
    • Click on the Windows Start button, type "Software Center", and click on the Software Center application
  • A new Software Center window will open
  • Select OK to start the software installation.
  • You may be prompted to restart your computer once the updates are complete. Remember to save your work and select restart.

Updates in Progress

  • You may also see a green Software Center icon
    • This means that the Software Center update is almost complete and you must restart your computer to finish the installation.
  • Click the green Software Center icon and select Restart Now.
  • The computer will restart, and the update will finish.
